URL Rewriting stopped working after GYM Sitemap Install

Postby mdb3sgte » Sun Jul 17, 2011 3:51 pm

I installed the SEO Mod in Advanced mode without any problems. It was rewriting the URLs perfectly.

I just tried installing the GYM sitemap mod and it screwed everything up. The rewrites stopped working.

I uninstalled the GYM sitemap mod in hopes it would fix the .htaccess file and allow for the rewrites to work again, but had no such luck.

I've purged cache multiple times. Checked the .htaccess file and it still isn't working...

Any ideas of what happened?

Actually no.

GYM is really not intrusive as a mod, so I don't know how it could have stopped URL rewriting, or is it just that the rewritten url stopped working after you updated the .htaccess ?
Cause if so, make sure you use the .htaccess generator to update it (and not to mention, put it where the red messages tells you to).

Yes, the rewritten URLs stopped working after the .htaccess file was updated. I've uninstalled the GYM sitemaps mod, regenerated a new .htaccess file multiple times and still can't get it to work properly. I did notice that it's somewhat working, but the wrong way. It'll take a rewritten URL and convert it to the standard phpbb url.

Now this is strange indeed.

Could you post here both your old (the one that was working) and new .htaccess ?

Unfortunately, I don't have the old working .htaccess file.

It seems to be working ok now if you manually type in the rewritten URL. ex: -http://www.celebritypicsonly.com/models-athletes-f8

Here is what my current .htaccess file looks like:

Code: Select all
# Lines That should already be in your .htacess
<Files "config.php">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from All
</Files>
<Files "common.php">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from All
</Files>

# You may need to un-comment the following lines
# Options +FollowSymlinks
# To make sure that rewritten dir or file (/|.html) will not load dir.php in case it exist
# Options -MultiViews
# REMEBER YOU ONLY NEED TO STARD MOD REWRITE ONCE
RewriteEngine On
# Uncomment the statement below if you want to make use of
# HTTP authentication and it does not already work.
# This could be required if you are for example using PHP via Apache CGI.
# RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization},L]
# REWRITE BASE
RewriteBase /
# HERE IS A GOOD PLACE TO FORCE CANONICAL DOMAIN
# RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^celebritypicsonly\.com$ [NC]
# RewriteRule ^(.*)$ -http://celebritypicsonly.com/$1 [QSA,L,R=301]

# DO NOT GO FURTHER IF THE REQUESTED FILE / DIR DOES EXISTS
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule . - [L]

if rewritten urls do work, make sure that url rewriting is activated in the acp.

Make sure that you have the correct files in phpbb_seo/ (compare them with the one from the package using winmerge), if not enough, you must have changed the phpBB files themselves.

You don't have permission to access /phpbb_seo/cache/phpbb_cache.php on this server.

I know. :wink:
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

This seems problematic...
I install and configure phpBB-SEO (and other mods) for a fair price and very fast. If you are interested simply send me a private message.
