Update and 301 Redirect

Postby sofie77 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 4:17 pm

Hello,

I am now admin in a existend forum with phpBB SEO Ultimate SEO URL. (Mode : Advanced - 0.6.2)

The mod is working but the forum has many urls indexed for 1 topic. For example

1. forum.com/forum/test-123.html (seo ultimate seo url)
2. forum.com/forum/topic-123.html (from a recent topic mod)
3. forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=123 (from the next and previous mod)

I would like to redirect now all urls to 1. this should be possible with the ID. DB Check for the ID, read the titel and redirect to the correct url.

I guess this mod is already done? Should I update to the new 0.7.0 to make this true or do i have install any mod? Thank you so much for advice.

all the best

The zero duplicate mod handles these cases: http://downloads.phpbb-seo.com/zero-duplicate-phpbb2-8/

Hi,

thank you very much for your quick reply.

Do i have to update my phpBB SEO Ultimate SEO URL? And if yes, is there a easy way or just go thru the install?

Will a update bring up some URL Problems?

Thanx for your advice and sorry for my questions. I guess you said everything 100 times already. But the forum is so full with informations.

thank you so much for the answer.

btw: you gave me the zero mod for phpbb2. Is that correct, i have a phpbb3 forum?!

In the ACP, you should see this option under the PHPBB SEO tab:

Activate URL rewriting:
Once you have set up the below options, and generated your personalized .htaccess, you can activate URL rewriting and check if your rewritten URLs do work properly. If you get 404 errors, it’s most likely an .htaccess issue, try some of the .htaccess tool option to generate a new one.

If yes, it will redirect all duplicates to the canonical URL. The latest version is 0.7.0:

Sorry for the confusion.
