.htacces "more options" not saving

Postby igento » Sun Apr 21, 2013 1:23 pm

Dear people,

We have succesfully installed phpbb and phpbb seo in the subcategorie domain/forum. Everything is working but the seo rewriting does not work. We have set all options for the phpbb seo and want to set the .htacces file in our subcategory (this because we use wordpress in the root directory and when you combine the .htacces you get a 500 internal error). If I am correct you have to use the more options button at the htacces tab. When we set this one to yes and also set RegEx Left Slash: to yes we can upload the .htacces to the category /forum. mod_rewrite is enabled.

When we leave the htacces tab and go back to this tab we see the more options is again to no, so the saved function is automaticly gone back to no. We have tried everything, but it is still not working.

What could be the problem and how can we fix this. No we can not use the forum in a good way because seo is not correct

You did exactly this?

If you want the .htaccess file in your phpBB / forum folder:

Administration Control Panel -> phpBB SEO -> .htaccess -> Scroll down -> More Options: Yes -> Submit -> Scroll down again -> .htaccess location:
Put the .htaccess in the phpBB folder ? -> Yes -> Submit. Now copy and paste the generated code in the .htaccess file in your phpBB folder and clear the board cache again.
I install and configure phpBB-SEO (and other mods) for a fair price and very fast. If you are interested simply send me a private message.

Thanks for your reply. I did exactly the steps you mention (I also just tried them again), but he is still giving the old url structure so for instance: viewforum.php?f=4 instead of /voorgerechten. After setting the options enabled for more options and also .htacces loaction to yes and the .htacces in the phpbb folder I copied the .htacces from the cache location to the /forum folder (the place I installed phpbb) and cleared the cache he is still showing the wrong url's.

Is there an other way to fix this, or something else that could go wrong?

- Activate URL rewriting: Yes
- URL rewriting type: Advanced
- Activate SQL Rewriting: Yes

- Activate The No duplicate: Yes
- Activate the Zero duplicate: Yes
- Posts Redirections: Guest

This requires an .htaccess update and you should clear your board cache. Also run the script: /phpbb_seo/sync_url.php

We did set first three options as you say, but I can not find the second three:

- Activate The No duplicate: Yes
- Activate the Zero duplicate: Yes
- Posts Redirections: Guest

For the rest we did make a new .htacces file and we tried to run the /phpbb_seo/sync_url.php, but I get: You must activate SQL Rewriting to use this script !. I did read you answers at: "You must activate SQL Rewriting to use this script" BUT and everything should be ok. Cache writable etc. and in the phpbb-cache.php file url_rewrite and sql_rewrite are set to yes. Still the url's are the same as before, so not seo friendly. Any other things I can try and where do I set the three points above?

Strange I have got exacly the same values as you do. I have attached the printscreen with the values and below you find the phpbb_cache.php file. Do you see something in there that is wrong?

<?php
/**
* phpBB_SEO Class
* www.phpBB-SEO.com
* @package Advanced phpBB3 SEO mod Rewrite
*/
if (!defined('IN_PHPBB')) {
exit;
}
$this->cache_config['settings'] = array ( 'url_rewrite' => true, 'modrtype' => 3, 'sql_rewrite' => true, 'profile_inj' => false, 'profile_vfolder' => false, 'profile_noids' => false, 'rewrite_usermsg' => false, 'rewrite_files' => true, 'rem_sid' => false, 'rem_hilit' => true, 'rem_small_words' => false, 'virtual_folder' => true, 'virtual_root' => false, 'cache_layer' => true, 'rem_ids' => false, 'copyrights' => array ( 'img' => true, 'txt' => '', 'title' => '', ), );
$this->cache_config['forum'] = array ( 3 => 'recepten', 4 => 'voorgerechten', 5 => 'bbq-merken', 6 => 'weber', );
?>

Not really.

May I ask what exactly you mean by this. Did you make a fresh installation of phpBB and then manually added Ultimate SEO URL v0.7.0?
Because that wouldn't make much sense, you could simply use the phpBB SEO Premod V 3.0.11 - That would be less troublesome and work for sure.

Dear Stephen26,

We did not know this function and did install the dutch version (so not the seo friendly one). That is also why we wanted to install phpbb seo mod. We did already make changes in the styles and installed several mods. Do you think it is better to start all over with the seo premod or try to fix this one. If we start again with the seo premod can we keep the database installation by keeping the config.php in the root directory or do we have to start all over?

Let me know

I would start again with a fresh installation of the phpBB SEO Premod V 3.0.11

a) Your problems would very likely be solved IMHO.
b) You get much more useful, integrated SEO mods than Ultimate SEO URL v0.7.0 provides.

You can keep your database / topics / posts, no problem.

Please read this thoroughly: [HOW TO] Install the phpBB SEO premod on phpBB

That's a tutorial I've created on how to install phpBB-SEO: http://imageshack.us/g/526/97036599.jpg/ (50 pictures)

Please don't forget to copy necessary files in e.g. the /language/*dutch_folder*/mods/ directory.

Dear Stephen26,

Thanks for your replies. We did as you said, but did not use our install. We started over again with a totally new installation with the seo premod. With this version the url structure is working fine and we only have to do some styling again, but that should not be to much work.

Thanks!
