I was just curious as to whether the social bookmarking mod from this site would work if it was used on php link directory?

The social bookmarking mod is excellent and if it would work it would be awesome

It actually very easy to adapt, you just need to add :

<script src="http://www.example.com/path/to/bookmarks.js" type="text/javascript"></script>


in the html header (eg in your header template) before :

Code: Select all

</head>

then :

Code: Select all

copy    root/images/sb/*.*               to    images/sb/*.*

and put :

Code: Select all

<script language="javascript">
social_bookmarks();
</script>

right where you'd like to output the links, in your template, could be in the footer.

Of course this implies that bookmarks.js is indeed to be found in http://www.example.com/path/to/bookmarks.js

It works a treat

Just one more thing, when one of the links is clicked for the social bookmarking it automatically fills in the title, so for example if one of the social bookmarking links was clicked whilst in the conservatory section it comes up with-

Ultimate Handyman Directory- Conservatories

Would it be possible to make it so that it just comes up as Conservatories

as I am sure this will be more helpful in SEO terms?

Well, the js is retrieving the title from the page title, if you'd only want to filter "Ultimate Handyman Directory" it should not be very difficult, but it would require some code if you have different part to filter on different pages.

It's not a drama since user will have to confirm the tag to add, these are only suggestions.

Hi dcz,
I am new to this forum. Its great. in the above code i think it has been told to copy the images from images/sb directory of root to images/sb directory of the particular style applied. But i dont find any directory name 'sb' in my root/images directory. Please help.
