Phpbbseo messed up my bbcode

Postby Gimmpy » Tue Nov 05, 2013 11:03 pm

So on my site: https://www.anarchyst-it.com/Forum/ the quote and code bbcode's no longer function properly after implementing the phpbb-seo ultimate mod.

Any suggestions on what I need to do?

And as a reference, by not functioning properly I mean that code
Code: Select all
instead of looking like this

Just looks like it has a difference background and thats it. Quote is the same way.

Take a look at the bbcode.html file for your template. Here's what it looks like for prosilver:

Code: Select all
<!-- BEGIN code_open --><dl class="codebox"><dt>{L_CODE}: <a href="#" onclick="selectCode(this); return false;">{L_SELECT_ALL_CODE}</a></dt><dd><code><!-- END code_open -->
<!-- BEGIN code_close --></code></dd></dl><!-- END code_close -->

Code: Select all
<!-- BEGIN quote_username_open --><blockquote><div><cite>{USERNAME} {L_WROTE}:</cite><!-- END quote_username_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_open --><blockquote class="uncited"><div><!-- END quote_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_close --></div></blockquote><!-- END quote_close -->

If the problem isn't self-evident after looking at the above, look at include/bbcode.php. It has specific methods (bbcode_second_pass_code and bbcode_second_pass_quote); adding debug echo's may help diagnose the problem (e.g., you are missing the template for these bbcodes). If the code that does the layout for your bbcodes doesn't prove to be the problem, look at the content.css file parts related to quote/code. For example from prosilver:

Code: Select all
/* Quote block */
blockquote {
   background: #ebebeb none 6px 8px no-repeat;
   border: 1px solid #dbdbdb;
   font-size: 0.95em;
   margin: 0.5em 1px 0 25px;
   overflow: hidden;
   padding: 5px;
}

blockquote blockquote {
   /* Nested quotes */
   background-color: #bababa;
   font-size: 1em;
   margin: 0.5em 1px 0 15px;
}

blockquote blockquote blockquote {
   /* Nested quotes */
   background-color: #e4e4e4;
}

blockquote cite {
   /* Username/source of quoter */
   font-style: normal;
   font-weight: bold;
   margin-left: 20px;
   display: block;
   font-size: 0.9em;
}

blockquote cite cite {
   font-size: 1em;
}

blockquote.uncited {
   padding-top: 25px;
}

Last suggestion... if all else fails, get the premod and do a source file compare between it and your install. That will show you every modification you've ever made to the basse phpBB/phpBB-SEO. That may give you a clue what went wrong (and besides, it's good to know what you've modified).

The other problem I am going to run into is I also use the advanced bbcode 3 mod lol.

And I have a backup of my site each week and loaded up one on my server that was pre advanced bbcode3 but after phpbb3 seo installion and both codes still didnt work, so I know that that isnt the issue. Just means I have more code to sift through. Thanks for giving me a starting area though. Ill post up what I find when I fix it :).

Wow, oddly enough I just had to replace the code in bbcode.html with what you posted and it worked flawlessly. For some reason the code I have in the original prosilver style was even messed up, not sure how I pulled that off.

Thanks so much! You were MUCH more help than the guys at phpbb3, they just brushed me off and told me to come here.

Thanks for the update. I think the guys at phpBB3 balk at phpBB-SEO related questions because it hasn't been submitted to them as a mod. Maybe that's worth doing, I'll have to ask dcz.
