What to do if Google adsense bans your website

Postby nims » Sat Nov 11, 2006 10:31 am

Hi, I know there are lots of people including me who have suffered blatant banning of websites causing invalid clicks. The point is what to do once your website and maybe the only or big source of income from Google adsense stops all of a sudden.

The important part is how to avoid banning at the first place ?
Secondly how to be prepared is u r banned ?

I wud like to share few money making programs for websites as alternatives to Google Adsense and if anyone else has more to share pls do.

Well, there are several things to do prior to get banned, but first, do not post affiliate links on this forum thanks ;)

It's OK if you post links among your message as long as they are useful, but nothing but the link please.

So first thing is, do not implement AdSense if you have two visits per day, this is the easiest way to go for trouble, and you won't earn nothing anyway.
Then, do not ask your user to click on adds and do not click on them yourself on your web site. As well, do not get involved in any program supposed to bring more visits and clicks.
Google is tracking a lot of things and is performing quite some good stats to fight against fake clicks.

Once you have enough visits, the stats are going to be averaged over a lot more page-views and you won't take the risk for suspicious events to become a too important part of your AdSense stats.

Now, if you where banned, you can try sending a gentle mail to Google if you believe you did not do anything wrong yourself and decide to enforce security on those adds, using Adlogger for example. It could work.

As you said, there are a lot more Ad systems out there, but I am pretty sure you should follow the same basic principles if you want to use them for a long time.

There is one important thing that came to my mind. Its a rare phenomena

What if I wanted to sell me website that has been banned by Google ? Or what if I buy a domain name that is now available or may be buy a business that has been earlier banned by Google ?
Will they or Do they , as per your knowledge activate such sites ? Bcos the new owner is not at fault.

Actually, it's always possible to write them a nice and gentle mail to tell them the reasons that made a domain blacklisted are not online anymore.

The best way to ask for unban would be first to make sure you're web-site is only using standard SEO method, as described here, prior to send the gentle mail.

Once this is done, do not spam, just wait and see for at least a month before you can expect some changes if any, and eventually send a new gentle mail to ask for more information's about the unban procedure.

You must acknowledge that is such cases, it's Google to decide, and that there are no real way to force anything. Being precise, humble and gentle is thus the only way to get their attention.

This is the only way to go, that could work.
I cannot say you'd obtain what you're asking for by doing this, but what is for sure is that if you do not do it, chances your domain will get unbanned are very, very low, and that they increase a lot if you do it.
I know of many examples for which it worked, but none had previously used really nasty SEO techniques so, I guess it can depend.

Thank you for the link to AdLogger, I can see it will be very useful! I only signed up for this forum about an hour ago and have only read a few threads, and already I've learned something useful.:)

And welcome :D

Yes AdLogger would be to dev if not already as it can be the only way for some to ensure the good use of AdSense on a web site.

Actually, I think Google could offer the same service in the AdSense panel, at least to help us not to be banned because of one single user who decided to abuse. But until then ...

I really find it strange for such a big company as google not to implement such a simple thing in adsense.

If they want they can easily take care of repeated clicks from same IP and discount the ad click amount. But they have not done so :?:  must be some big plan behind that

I think, it is a big issue if Google ad sense bans a website. I think, it is better if you prevent user confusion, publishers may not display Google ads or search boxes on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colors as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure that these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.

If Google bans you, you do something wrong and most likely other will ban you too. How ever it is interesting to use some combination with Adsense so earnings are maximized.
