Fraudlent clicks is not the thing to try. Google is the stat king, very hard to trick.
And, there is another thing to think about, IMHO, AdSense should not be implemented unless you have more than a reasonable amount of visits a day.
Because this will make the averages calculated over more pages loads and thus less extremes.
With 10 page loads, and two real clicks, you'd have 20% efficiency, which can look very suspicious to Google even though it could be honest.
Then, about an admin who clicks on his Google adds, well, this is not the thing to do, because there is no need for a lot as Google is most likely already knowing your IP (just requires you to log in to any of the Google services once and use the same ip to click on an AdSense of yours).
I have heard of admin being banned after a single clik after several month using AdSense.
Personally, my rule is not even a single cliks on my adSence never. And to make sure, I just do not output adds if it's my ip visiting the web site, in case somone else would visit my web-site using my ip (I use more than one computer with the same IP).
Then, about AdSense earnings, the AdSense TOS ask anyone using AdSense not to give any precise datas. It's as well not recommended to provide with accurate datas publicly.
All we can talk about is : is this better than, this, how to do this, to do better than this and etc ...
So my answer will be, I am sure many webmaster do earn enough for living with AdSense, not necessarily with one web site, it depends. Many make it to maintain a non profit web project (hosting), and many others do not earn much, because you need more than 10 visits per day
