For phpBB, check mx Google sitmemaps ;)

You can add extra listing in the system ;)

For the static part of your site, you can crawl them using Google Site-crawler if they are not too many. This one will build a flat xml file you can directly submit, but you'll have to update it and crawling hundreds of links take some time, but it's perfect for static pages.

thanks for all your help

I dont think i want to create a sitemap as much as I want to create a sitemap xml file to submit to google--or do I have to apply the whole sitemap mod??

I am also concerned as phpbb3 is coming and the more mods i apply the harder it will be to migrate

Well, the mx Google sitemap module will do it all for you, everything is auto, you'll just have to submit once on file to Google once installed. It is very powerful to have Google spider your site well.
There is no way nor no point to install it partly, but, you'll find it's very easy to install, not a single change to phpBB files nor DB ;) That's where we come to point two :

mx Google sitemaps, as well as mx Sitemapsare module not mods, meaning, they do not change anything to phpBB, migrating won't be of any more problem than to update the mod, eventually (again, updates on those will basically be overwriting files).

As those two are really powerful as an Search Engine Optimization enhancement, I recommend you install both. Take your time, SEO is not a matter of one day, take a look to the demos.

Well, your sitemaps installation is perfect.

ANd I see you implemented the mx Google sitemaps rewriterules correclty too as -http://www.asia-expatsforum.com/phpBB2/sitemaps.xml -http://www.asia-expatsforum.com/phpBB2/sitemap-forum.xml and -http://www.asia-expatsforum.com/phpBB2/forum-sitemap-22.xml works perfect with the correct outputed URLs ;)

So you should activate mod rewrite for Google sitemaps to output those links to sitemaps, in ACP (the mx Google Sitemaps one ;) in phpbb's)

You'll thus be able submit your sitemapIndex (sitemaps.xml) and let it happen :D

And don't worry it you already submitted it, as it outputted the correct URLs for forums, it's no big deal to just resubmit the new one, as only the sitemaps link will here be concerned.

This is the mod rewrite effect ;)

Actually no physical sitemap file exists here, just like there are no physical file for topics, mod rewrite makes it so it looks exactly like it, but it's still php to work being.

If, for example a form url is like this : title-of-the-forum-vfxx.html is not linked to any physical file, but still exist as a true HTML page, just like here.

And don' t forget it's sitemaps.xml
