Google Warnings

Postby Geisthund » Wed May 13, 2009 3:45 pm

Hi

I have recently started to receive WARNINGS from Google:
All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority.
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important. Help

In ACP I found:
Default Priority:
The default priority for URLs listed in all the sitemaps; will be used unless additional options are made possible by module (must be a number between 0.0 & 1.0 inclusive)

This option could be overridden but currently isn’t.

Cheers

How many urls do you have in your sitemaps ?
Because it's barely impossible to have disparity in priorities with very few items, or if they where all posted the same day.

If you have few items, you can increase the threshold a bit to make sure you'll be generating sitemaps with enough items to have enough disparity among priorities.

Hi

It appears that the problem stems from http://www.weimaraner.tv/sitemap.php?forum all other pages appear to be passed by google.

Oh I see, it's just because priorities are very close to each other for forum sitemaps, since in most cases, all forums do get new posts all the time (and thus where updated more or less in the same time).

It's not a drama is google complains about it, but we'll put together something to increase priority disparity for this one.
