How to remove sitename, sitedesc and rss logo

Postby Gaurav » Mon Jan 28, 2013 8:02 pm

My site is using custom banner in image in full banner size that does not require RSS logo on left, site name and site description in Gym Rss sitemap.

Please help in removing all these three elements from header. Thanks in advance.

You can edit gym_sitemaps\style\gym_rss.xsl as you wish (it's basically HTML, search on id="site-description").

Thanks HB.

I tried same but unfortunately it didn't work, even after clearing the prosilver cache, gym cache, browser cache.

That file has below codes.

Code: Select all
<body id="phpbb">

-->
         <div id="wrap">

Isn't this the part you want removed?

Code: Select all
<a href="{$home_link}" title="{L_HOME}" id="logo"><img src="{channel/image/url}" alt="{channel/image/title}" /></a>
                        <h1>{SITENAME}</h1>
                        <p>{SITE_DESCRIPTION}</p>
                        <p style="display: none;">

I'm only guessing here... if you post an image of what you see and another with what you WANT to see, it would be helpful. That said, why does it matter? The XSL formatting for the RSS feed is rarely seen by "real" people. Most people, I imagine, use a RSS reader not a browser to read RSS feeds, so the XSL stuff is ignored anyway.

Yes indeed, but later changed mind to get off search box too as it was interfering with banner lil bit.

I agree with your point of browser formatting get used very lil as most ppl pull it thru RSS reader, but i still aim to perfect everything at my board (at least trying). Please help if you know why it isn't removing these elements from the banner?

Thanks a lot for all the help. Cheers.

Not sure why it's not working, but it's basic PHP debugging, so I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader. :D

Personally I would remove the XSL transforms if you don't like them. Most browsers do a good job formatting them and the XSL's provided by phpBB-seo are more about pleasing webmasters than real users. For what it's worth, my site redirects to Feedburner ( http://feeds.feedburner.com/Home-Barista ). So I provide the basic RSS feed to Feedburner and it handles syndication. That means nearly zero load on my server and a potentially wider audience. And as a side effect, the phpBB-SEO XSL transforms are ignored completely, which is perfectly fine by me.
