Move From Mixed mode to Advanced Mode

Postby notrick » Tue May 19, 2009 11:10 am

Is there a way to Move from Mixed mode to Advanced mode?

I have tons and tons of my urls indexed by Google already. :(

And I don't want to affect that.

Also will the extra redirects, for this solution, affect my server performance?

Thanks

My advice here would be to wait until 3.0.5 get out (should not be long RC1 is already out), because we're up to a major improvement for url rewriting. You'll be able to set custom keyword in topic urls on a per case basis in mixed and simple mode. And this could actually be all you want.
Then, if you really want to go for the advanced mod, it will be a lot easier too, since everything will be as hard as (once the update will be done) just setting it in the acp :D
And redirection will be dealt with automatically with the zero dupe as well ;)

champ effort. :)

Good going.

We love it.

Hope I will now see a rise in my Page Rank. i have been trying since 2 years to get my page in ranking. I have bloody damn tried every thing in all The SEO books to get a good page rank but still I am only 2. :( It sucks and is depressing :(

Though I am up there in first 2 results for every keywords I want to be. But efforts, if rewarded, feels good.

During the past two years, google seems to have make it harder to get high PR, like if it was re-calibrating it after so many site went bigger and so many other went stared worldwide. So I would not consider that keeping you PR during this period was a "failure".

phpBB SEO is a good example, we add a lot fewer pages, visitors and backlinks (really a lot fewer, from few hundreds to over 30 000 for google backlinks) when we first got our PR5, so I consider that the fact we so far kept it was the consequence of the new calibrating decreasing it and the growing success (BLs, visitors and pages) increasing it to just compensate each other.

In all cases, PR does not matter much, what really matter are SERPs and SE referrals.

Makes Sense.

My PR of one of my site went down from 4 to 2. But the traffic from Search engines have increased almost 7 times.

Only thing is that now the rates of advertising on my websites have gone down :( due to less pagerank.

Again, I don't think that this is related to PR, but rather to the sub prime crisis in particular (less advertisers with less money worldwide), and to the fact that pretty much all advertisement service just lowered their payback rate in general.

They have :)

Firstly, upgrade to the latest version of both phpbb - which is 3.0.5 and phpbb Ultimate URL rewrite - which is 0.6.0. Secondly, choose Advanced mode in ACP. Finally, install Zero Duplicate mod - Zero duplicate and activate it. That's all I think. The problem is you have many pages with useless topic titles, you can't edit all of them so ah...

Please Note that the Bellow URLS are all DUMMY URL. Please Do not Click on Them. I dunno what will happen if U do that. :)

Ok So Now I installed Advanced mode and 6.0 Version of SEO URL.

So now my question is

initially my links were like - myforum.com/topic200.html

But now they are myforum.com/topic-title-t200.html

But when i check both the URLs none of them are redirecting to any thing.

When i open myforum.com/topic200.html - it opens the correct page. But when I open myforum.com/topic-title-t200.html, though the page is correct, it opens the same page.

Hence

myforum.com/topic-title-t200.html
and
myforum.com/topic200.html are both opening the same page and none of them is a 301 redirect

This means huge amount of Duplicate contents...Right?

Can we somehow avoid this?
