I have uploaded phpbb seo ultimate mod for my forum with mixed mode enabled.I placed the .htccess generated by the ACP in the forum folder .This forum folder is subdirectory of another folder.I have cleared all cache. But on clicking forum,the url is rewriiten as :
mydomain.com/testforum/your-first-forum-f2.html?sid=453924b0a8a4f6b4dbf020a8c3cfa4af.But the page shows 404 error.

You need to first make sure about your phpBB Server and Cookie settings and then to generate a new .htaccess online. To put i in the forum directory (since it's not the root directory), you will need to use the "more options" option of the .htaccess generator, and then the alternate location one.
The red message will then tell you to put it in the sub-diretcory
