I have a small problem, I am working with the PHBB SEO MODE and the url rewrite for FORUMS and posts, but I have a problem.

I finally got the urls the way I want, however the old urls from me playing around are still accessible just by putting them in the browser alone

now if you go to my forum and navigate thru the URLS display correctly but google appeared to index the old urls too which is how i found out you can still access the old url too

here is an example

old URL- http://www.seo-specialist-online-forum. ... s-f17.html

New one -http://www.seo-specialist-online-forum.com/computer-tips.html


Again I can access both but I want the old url to be gone and redirected

I updated .htaccess, do i need to change something in the database, what can i do before this gets worse

Thank you, I actually did fix the problem

the issue was with a outddated cache

one question, though when moving pages around or navigation changes on a site, how long must 301 redirects be in place, or can they be removed at some point after Google adjusts to the change?

http 301 should be kept for ever in principle, because there could be links with these old links somewhere, still followed from time to time by bots and humans, and I've also seen google starting all the sudden to crawl very old url linked from nowhere (like if some old backup of the crawling list was restored for some reasons).
