Topics/Posts not rewriting

Postby hollander » Mon Jul 19, 2010 1:41 pm

URL: www.punch101.com/forum/

In my PHPBB SEO panel only categories and sub-categories are URL re-written.

Topics/Posts still have topic/postxxx etc. atthe end of the URL.

Is there any way to fix this?

Regards,

Hollander.

Figured it out, no one on this forum helped, great community... </s>

For anyone else that couldn't figure it out (the many threads that exist for this problem):

1) Delete everything in cache folder.
2) Set to Advanced mode.
3) Upload new HTACCESS file.

Thank you!

This should be in the instructions for the mod, IMO.

I've just installed the mod and activated mixed mode also but getting the same problem. Forums are rewritten correctly but topics arent.

I have

mydomain.com/forum/forum-cat/topic3013.html

instead of

mydomain.com/forum/forum-cat/topic-being-discussed.html

I thought the URLs are updated during URL synchronizations?

Your suggestion didn't fix my problem unfortunately.

My forum is at http://www.sabahforum.com/forum

What I'm unclear of is do I have to edit the URL manually? I have over 14K topics in my forum.

I cannot get my posts/topics to rewrite either - forums are rewritten as expected but the full url is of the form /my-forum-name-fx/topicx.html

how do I change topic to the actual topic title?

I'm having a similar problem!!! Here is a link to my forum:

http://www.phone7forum.com/ - as you click through the forums, the forum category url shows up but the topics do not.. they just stay as topic-xx

Any clues on how to fixxx????

Make sure you understand the difference between advanced and mixed mode.

You find the necessary info here:

http://downloads.phpbb-seo.com/seo-url-premod-12/phpbb-seo-premod-48.html

The point being:

ADVANCED MODE:

Advanced URL rewriting for phpBB URLs, injecting forums AND TOPIC TITLES in their URLs

so in advanced mode the >>TOPIC TITLES are changed, where as in

MIXED MODE:

Mixed URL rewriting for phpBB URLs, injecting forums titles in their URLs but keeping a static default rewriting for topics.

the "STATIC DEFAULT rewriting for topics" is what we want to get rid off.

So - as always - reading increases our knowledge :D

Thanks for the advice - this worked first time for me and saves me manually adding each topic title! :)

Maybe your suggestion of deleting everything in cache folder is applicable to sites that are new. How about if there are already lots of contents on the sites? Of course it affects a lot if you delete all contents in the cache folder.

Deleting all files in the /cache/ (NOT /phpbb_seo/cache/) folder except for .htaccess and index.htm is completely fine, it will not result in loss of content (which is stored in the database btw).
I install and configure phpBB-SEO (and other mods) for a fair price and very fast. If you are interested simply send me a private message.
