My phpBB premod is installed in /forum folder. rss.php and other GYM related files are there in exact location.
But my sitemap.php is in root/ .

Interesting 404 problem

I have a clean install of PHP 3.0.10 (SEO pre-mod).

I have enabled Mixed, re-writing.

When I go to my forum it loads and the URL links are to the re-written URLs not x.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5, as I would expect.

However neither x.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5 or x.com/forums/your-first-forum-f2.html loads I get a ...
