Old phpbb2 mod-rewrite URLs not working

dcz, please help!

As you know, I successfully had my phpbb2 forum indexed using advanced mod rewrite and zero dupe. I ended up with thousands of pages indexed on Google, thanks to your excellent work. 8)

I have now converted my board from phpbb2 to phpbb3 RC3 and have installed the latest mod-rewrite and zero dupe.

But I have tried clicking on some of the URLs indexed in Google and I just get 404 errors. This is no use to me as it means I am losing traffic from backlinks (of which ...

Matt Cutts says: _ instead of - as separator

What do you think? It's better _ or - as separator?

append_sid does not return seo'ed link

Hello,
subsequently to the other thread (but different enough, imho, to get a new one), i have a problem with appen_sid function.

If i understood it correctly, its that function that should return seo'ed urls.
Well, im calling the function like this
Code: Select all
append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}viewtopic.$phpEx", 'f=' . $fetch_news[$i]['forum_id'] . '&t=' . $fetch_news[$i]['topic_id'])

but that dosnt return the seo'ed stuff, just http://localhost/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=303

Any clues ? Is the function called incorrectly for the seo to work ?
Its strange because another stuff that's called in the same page (memberlist) get seo'ed correctly
Code: Select all
append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}memberlist.$phpEx", 'mode=viewprofile&u=' . $fetch_news[$i]['user_id'])

Thanks in ...

Help me plan for phpBB3 SEO please - existing .htaccess enc.

Hi everyone.

I'm not 110% on what I need to install but I've been told I'll need the 'No_dupes' rewrite as I'm already using rewrite for phpBB2x and I know I'll obviously need a flavour of phpBB3 rewrite (but probably NOT the advanced one)

What I am 500% on is that I want phpBB-SEO's excellent rewrite work to carry on pimping my forum all over the world - where would I be without you!

If I tell you what I've currently got (dcz, you may remember) and a brief explanation of the forum structure (folderwise) between existing and test (phpBB3) ...

Seo Rewrite Problem (different index)

Hello everyone,
i have installed the current release over the RC3, and its working great except for some (hopefully small) issues.

I have a different directory index, its not "index.php" but it is "portal.php".
I've set that with directoryindex in .htaccess file, the problem is that the "index.php" its still used (for displaying the forums), but, as far as i can tell, when i call www.mysite.com/index.php it gets redirected to www.mysite.com,
subsequently calling "portal.php" instead of index.php

Any fix for this?

Thanks in advance

Edit:
I can quickfix ...
