Problem after installing the script

Postby dannyman1234 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 2:24 pm

Hi

I installed adv_phpbb3_mod_rewriteV0-4-4 on my phpbb3.0 forum.

My forum is in -www.domain.com/forum and worked fine before. Now I copied all the files to the right paths and used the install script, i get this error:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Even when I replaced the old files back, and when I want to go to -www.domain.com/index.php it still gives me the rror.

What did this install script do? I am s confused, because I cant access my site anymore.

Please help

Regards

Danny

If you installed the site into the /forum subfolder off the root, the only thing I can think of is that your .htaccess file is screwed up??

Or, perhaps you installed the forum into the same database as your main site under root and possibly you overwrote some tables?

Or you simply deleted or modified your config.php file, because this mod does not alter the way phpBB is connecting to the DB at all.

It's only adding the required entries in the module table when installing the acp so if as advised you did a backup, put it back and it should work.

Then I encourage you to set up a local test server to be able to install mods without jeopardizing your online forum and only upload them when you're sure you properly implemented them.
