Need help with SMF 1.1.11 to phpbb seo

I found this through google. [Solved]Migrating links from smf to phpbb3-seo

I want to be able to do what that guy did. I was doing some research and it seems you have to do SMF to phpbb2 to phpbb3 to phpbb seo...
anyone know a more practical way to approach this?
