Can't view topics on board after I 'Activate URL Rewriting"

Postby dankbits » Sat Dec 29, 2012 11:30 pm

I just finished installing the premod version 3.0.11. Everything installed okay. I then called hostgator to make sure I had the approriate apache rewrite module installed. No problems there. However, when I 'Activate URL Rewrite' (mixed mode), I cannot view the topics in the forum. When I click the forum, it shows and SEO friendly url in the address bar, but it doesn't list any topics within the forum.

From the looks of it, every link on redirects to the board index.

What am I not doing correctly?

OK, I had the same problem and had already typed in a long reply to ask how to solve this.

As you can see I deleted that long reply.

Simple solution:
When testing, as I did, I used the "Forum URL Management"and set them to category1 and forum1,
DO NOT use the terms category or forum when testing, that is when this error comes up.
Use aaabbb and cccddd or whatever, but NOT category and forum.
Just lost 6 hours over this, so hopefully any other new installers of SEO can avoid losing time over this. :D

Yes and YES and YES.

I have been working with the standard phpBB for years, so I know all the ins and outs and am quite capable of changing all to my needs in the codes.

I just found it out after I used the name forum (instead of forum1) and SEO acually gave an error that it was reserved.
So I changed category to aaa and forum to bbb and all problems where solved.

I just posted it, so others would know about this problem, since the original OP never even got answered months ago.

Very nice from you, that you have posted the solution!
I install and configure phpBB-SEO (and other mods) for a fair price and very fast. If you are interested simply send me a private message.
