SEO Small Issue (Help)

Postby Rigo » Mon Sep 23, 2013 2:09 pm

Everything went well with the advanced MOD. No errors or problems. However, the SEO MOD doesn't work correctly with "Recent topics", "last post on index" and others, will display a different version of the same URL.

For example, forum/new-coins-t2592.html will be displayed as forum/topic2592.html which will cause a duplicate content SEO issue. How do I fix this?

By the way, I also noticed this issue on someone else board who has the SEO MOD installed.

Assuming you have the zero dupe option enabled, it won't matter. The topicXXX.html will redirect to the canonical URL.

Thank you for your fast response, HB. Please remind me, what is dupe again? And if it's ok, then how is the url friendly to SEO if it's not showing key words or correct titles?

This explains: [Advanced] Zero Duplicate V 0.2.2. The zero duplicate code redirects non-canonical URLs like postNNN and topicNNN to the canonical equivalent (e.g., my-cool-discussion-t1234.html). Since bots follow 301 redirects, there's no duplicate entries in their index. The non-canonical URLs are shown in stuff like search results because it isn't worth the extra time to rewrite transitory URL results.
