Forum "down", not showing anything

Postby triskel » Thu Feb 06, 2014 8:35 pm

My forum seems to be "down" it is not showing anything, just a blank page in the index or in anyother part of the board.

I checked the database and everything is there, no missing files either in the code (as long as i can see). What can be going on?

I would be willing to update to the latest version of PHPBB seo too... cany anyone help?

Please pm me with details, im willing to pay. Thank you!

I would start by checking the HTTP logs. A blank page usually means the server was unable to serve a page due to an error. For security reasons, the error is not shown to the user. But the HTTP logs will show the error.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/logs.html

You may also find some helpful error logs from PHP. If you're on a dedicated server, you should also confirm that the HTTP and MySQL daemons are running. Sometimes a reboot will fix it.

Where do i find those errors? Im on a shared hosting (servage.net)

I tell suppor to check the boards but they couldnt solve it, they just told me they would change any server setting i would need to fix the error.

the page show is absolutely blank, not even a single character on it.

Does your site serve any HTML pages? Maybe you have a typo in the .htaccess file and your (shared) host suppresses the error. You could delete/rename the .htaccess and see if that restores proper functioning. Apache doesn't have very good error messages for .htaccess problems (usually it displays an error 500 and exits). You could also ask your provider for HTTP/PHP logs related to your site, assuming they don't provide direct access.

If you're looking for someone to hire, http://www.typo-it.com/ is a phpBB-SEO moderator and does this sort of work.
