phpbb seo only works when logged out

Postby pianodreamer » Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:34 am

hi

I just installed the premodded phpbb3 version.

when I'm logged in, I get URLs like:
/test-forum-f2.html?sid=91f870028d839c723873f2bfb38196dc

and when I'm logged out, the URLs look like this:
/test-forum-f2.html

I have this problem with simple, mixed, or advanced SEO mod rewrite, regardless of whether or not SID removing is enabled.

I would like it so that the URLs are clean looking both when I'm logged in, or when I'm viewing the forum as a guest.

any ideas of why its behaving this way, and what I need to do to fix it?

It normal, but it should only occur on the first page load, unless you do not accept cookies.

You won't see any url with SID list in SE with our mods. Bots won't see them, and if they would follow a link posted with SId (even though phpBB3 does get rid of sid posted in links) they would be redirected.

huh. when i was trying to fix another problem, I changed one of the forum settings to "Force server URL settings" and it also seems to have solved the problem... at least on the forum itself. in the ACP its still happening.

when I click on the admin index button it takes me to:

this isnt just when first logging into the ACP, but on every page when navigating through it.

if after successfully logging into the ACP I type in "www.example.com/adm/index.php" it will think I'm logged out and ask me for my password a second time. but, I can go back to -www.example.com/adm/index.php?sid=7946f648f61bfe637df59baf3a6c2e51 I can navigate through the ACP again without having to log in.

this is exactly what had been happening on the rest of the forum before I changed the setting to "Force server URL settings".

actually I tested it, and the server settings have absolutely nothing to do with it... so I have absolutely no idea why it wasn't working in the forum, and I have no idea why its still not working in the ACP.

Well, depending on you hosting, you could need to force the server settings.

Then, it's totally normal to see SID in the ACP, it's not a problem, bot do not administrate forums.

Make sure you set the cookie domain to be : .example.com (noticed the dot "."), could be just it.
