I would like to submit you a problem which has been not yet resolved on the support forum of phpbb.it

The problem is the following:
- Google doesnt see the content of the forum
- If you tipe site:www.quaestiones.com/cq/forum on google and that click on the cache page (http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cache:Ni ... clnk&gl=it) you will notice that google see only the header and the footer.

Check that I have already done, and no results:
- check of robots.txt, no page in the forum is forbidden
- bot group is active
- Google Bot is active (agent match = Googlebot)
- If I try the group permits i will able to see the content in the page
- bot group has bot permits for the forum (for some forum also the "standard access")
- i have submitted again the url to google

Please let me know if you have any ideas

i have followed all you indications:
- i have removed the disallow on robots.txt, and resubmitted to google
- i have assigned to the group the Bot Access permits

but nothing, the cache page tells that Google is not able to read the content. Any suggestion?

Have you tested the "Bot permission" on you using the "Try permission" function?

I have selected the Google Bot user in the group and i have tried the permissione for that user. It looks fine and the bot could see the site content. If you want I can create a supervisor profile so you can perform some tests?

It looks as though the googlebot is using the prosilver style. However, this doesn't appear to be your default style. Have you tried forcing the googlebot to use your NEWphpBB style?

Hi the default style which I set is prosilver, what do you mean by force the newhphpbb style? is the seo mod a new style? i dont see it in the style admin panel. Could you please advice...

What I meant was that if you look at the google cache page, it is clearly using prosilver. However, when I visit your website it looks like you are using by default prosilver_se with some modifications. I looked at the template directory and it said "NEWphpBB" which is why I called it that. What I was saying is try to change the googlebot's style to the board's default by going into the ACP -> system -> spiders/robots, click edit on googlebot and change its style. If the issue lies with the style the googlebot is using then changing it to your board's default style (the prosilver_se based one) will hopefully fix it. You'll have to wait for the cache to update to see though.

Yes, this is most likely a bot authorization / setup issue, and since the last cached time is sept 23 so far, we'll have to wait a bit to see if it's actually working.

If you are not running phpBB3.0.5, you may (it's not very likely though) have some issues with your authorization (the one you are changing could not be the actual one in use) upgrading in such case could solve the issue.

According to your cache page I can say that the bots are not allowed to read any forum at all. Remember that the read permission of a forum is per forum basis.

I attach some screen shot to illustrate that from my ACP everything look coherent. All group are on prosilver template (i have only 2 template prosilver and subsilver2).

Moreover you can find a snap of the BOt authorizathion.
Is the update to 3.0.5 the only chance that I have?

Does the flood settings play any role?

The problem is with the bot groups authorizations not the bot setup, they must be able to view and read all the forums you want them to index. This means that you will have to go through all forum's authorisations and properly set the bot group authorizations for each.

Dear all
after months now I didnt solve the problem even if the Bot group has all the right access. I have tried: read only access, bot access, and full access. None of them has given results.

I have changed also the default style, now is prosilver again. all the bot see prosilver.
If I check the robots/spider panel the only strange thing is that there is no record of Googlebot visit on the page http://www.quaestiones.com/cq/forum/index.php , seems like the googlebot is not mapped correctly.

is this the right configuration?

PS: I can grant access to it if needed.

This demonstrate that google bot does not have enough priviledges to view your forums. So you must set up the bot group authorizations, so they can read and view all the public forums (you'll need to go through each forum's auth to do it)

this is exactly what I have done. Each forum is set to give access to Bot. i have tried many options "only read" - "full access" - "bot access". Do you want to have a quick look at it, maybe you find out something that i dont realize
