Redirect problem after editing / posting

Postby USFmaster » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:04 pm

Normally after posting a topic or replyin to a post by full edit mode, after submiting the draft, it gets redirected to the post just made. But in my forum it redirects abck to the edit box itself.

I asked the support forum at phpbb.com

but they decilned as I have phpbb seo pre-mod installed in my forum
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... #p12939233

can anyone help? Is it any problem with redirect in posting.php?

I hate when they do that, our mods are mods, if they are able to provide with a useful answers with other mods, why being so shy with ours

Anyway, is it the case if you deactivate url rewriting ?
Did you implement the required code changes in your style files ?

Since the code change involved in the posting process is exactly the same for both an standalone installation of the USU and the premod, and since it's obviously working as expected with the original files, I would seek for some installation mistakes.

Start with comparing your includes/functions_posting.php with the original one (from the premod or the USU contrib files it does not matter, they are the same).

Also I assume that if you where not using one of the two default style, you would still have implemented the code changes in it.

I used UltraCompare for both the files. No changes regarding posting and redirecting. They are exactly the same

Then it must be one of the other mod.

Could you set me a test account and tell me in which forum I could test it myself ?

Ok, so looking at the posting page, I got some js errors all related to the missing onunload_functions that should be defined in your overall_header.html and is actually missing from there (have a look at the prosilver's one since your them is based on it). It is also clear that your overall_header.html is missing the USU code changes.

Have you tried to post with js deactivated (I did not try to post yet) ?
Because it could only be js to block you here.
If not, it is very likely that the problem comes from missing code in your style files, or another implementation mistake.

can you quote the code to track the js function?
I did all changes according to prosilver changes that came with php-seo premod 3.0.8

also should i install seo after making the code changes to my style? I did it after ...
The prosilver that comes with phpseo premod pack is with all changes already done, right?
