Change Mode CHMOD 777

Postby eric.ellison » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:29 pm

I just installed seo using auto mod and it was successful, but I now get this message before updating my site and unable to update

Cache file status:
The cache directory configured is : ./../phpbb_seo/cache/
The cache directory was not found.
The cache directory is not writable. You need to CHMOD it to 0777.
Some files within the cache directory may not be writable, make sure you properly CHMOD the cache directory AND all files in it.

I'm not familiar with CHMOD to 777 is this something on the server level with my isp or is it something withing the PHPbb3 website files on my ftp server?

thanks much.

Hey this is now fixed. I just added an empty folder titled cache to phpbb_seo/ and then changed the permission to 777.

if anyone is reading, I also changed permission on my forum cache to 777 i believe it was previously 644. Should this be changed back? Or should all the files and cache folder for phpbb3 be set to 777?

thanks

I now get an error and am unable to access to the forum or subsequent posts....the error is

Not Found

The requested URL /ops-general-discussion-f2.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I really am not sure of where to look on this one....where the Urls are actually changed. Could it be how I changed the cache file or something else?

i've read about the .htaccess but I have not done anything with that process as I believe it is for advanced mode.

You should pay more attention to install.xml, did you implement the .htaccess ?
