Is it possible to re-write sub-forums to one level?

Postby redactuk » Sun Dec 11, 2011 9:37 pm

Not a very clear topic title.. let me explain:

Could i use of of these mods to re-write my phpbb3 forums so that all URLs are [domain name][forum name][topic title] regardless of whether the forum happens to be more than one level down i.e. sub-forums or within categories etc.. Hopefully that makes sense. Anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

Yes, the phpBB-SEO Ultimate SEO URL mod will do exactly that. :)

Excellent! thank you for quick reply. I will test this out this week on local demo install.

PS

Presumably i could take this one step further and inject the word 'forum' into my sequence mentioned above? e.g.

[domain name]forum[forum name][topic title]

Finally installed mod but just can't see how to do this :(

I'm using Mixed mode and my forums are installed in subfolder off root called forums. Currently my .htaccess is in the root.

If I have Virtual Folder set to No I get: [domain name]forums[topic title] at any level in my forums

and if I set Virtual Folder to Yes I get: [domain name][forum name][topic title] at any level in my forums.

so the second option is closest in that it DOES always give me the name of the imemdiate parent forum to my topic, but no 'forums'. i'm just wondering if the only way to do this is to somehow modify the .htaccess to additionally inject the 'forums' part again?

Any help appreciated
