Hole path in url

Postby the_zoker_09 » Sun May 20, 2012 11:14 am

Hi all,

Is it possible to add the complete path to the link?

Example 1:
My category is "Forum" and one of the boards in it, is "Help-Forum", the url is now: -http://www.xyz.com/help-forum/
But I want, that the url is: -http://www.xyz.com/forum/help-forum
So the complate path is in the url.

Example 2:
As example 1, my category is "Forum" and one of the boards is "Help-Forum", but there is another subforum (in Help-Forum) in it called "Mod-Help-Forum" and there is a thread called "How to solve the problem"
Now the url is: -http://www.xyz.com/mod-help-forum/how-to-solve-the-problem-t45-html

But i want the url to be: -http://www.xyz.com/forum/help-forum/mod-help-forum/how-to-solve-the-problem-t45.html

Is it anyway possible, to make the url behave like that?
So the hole path is in the url?

I hope u understood

Thank you

You could just create a physical directory named "forum", move the phpBB-SEO files in there and adapt the phpBB Server and Cookie settings accordingly. It's necessary to generate a new .htaccess file in ACP -> phpBB-SEO -> .htaccess and clear the board cache.

If your forum URLs are already indexed in search engines they need to be 301 redirected.

There should also exist a relatively simple coding solution for this problem, but I don't know it.
I install and configure phpBB-SEO (and other mods) for a fair price and very fast. If you are interested simply send me a private message.

But not all forums are in "Forum".

There are also "Forum1", "Forum2"....

Ok, didn't know that. Hope someone more experienced comes up with a coding solution.

Hi,

I have the same issue.

For example:

I have following forum structure: category -> forum -> subforum -> topic

How to do urls like this:
http://mysite.com/category/forum/subforum/topic.html or http://mysite.com/forum/subforum/topic.html?

I think that's the way it's working here on phpbb-seo.com:

http://www.phpbb-seo.com/en(forum)/phpbb-mod-rewrite(subforum)/article8781(topic).html

Any ideas how to achieve that?

Thanks!
Piotr

I think the "en" in the link is not a real forum, but something like a language detection.

As a matter of fact, I need it for the same purpose, so both ways are good for me :)

Any help will be appreciated.
