[OPT. TITLES] "forum title" isn't dislplayed anymo

Postby cesare2008 » Thu Jan 22, 2009 4:12 pm

since i've updated to phpbb seo 3.0.4 premod. category and topic titles work fine actually.

see on your own: [deleted->SEO]

bevor i was running a version moded (optimal titles) by myself and the forum's title appeared. what happened? I can't remeber to have to change something in the code to make my forum's title appear on the different pages...I also had a look at the mod's install instructions but couldn't find anything...

has somebody a clue?

thanks.
cesare

p.s.: cleaning phpbb's cache didn't help either...

This maybe :
install wrote:By Default, this mod will use the INDEX language key as forum index title, this is done like this in order to
allow portals to use the config sitename in case there is one.

You can change it in languages/en/common.php :

'INDEX' => 'Index page',

thanks. i know that already - its not what i want.

i'd like the forum name to appear on all forum pages, i.e.

index.php: index page : [forum title]
category: [category title] : [forum title]
topic: [topic title] : [category title] : [forum title]

i had it that way on my 3.0.2. installation but i don't know what files to look for the changes...

in the mean time i will try to find the change i applied there...

I did the following:

languages/en/common.php :

'INDEX' => 'metabolic balance® Forum',

viewforum.php:
// Dump out the page header and load viewforum template
// www.phpBB-SEO.com SEO TOOLKIT BEGIN - TITLE
$extra_title = ($start > 0) ? ' - ' . $user->lang['Page'] . ( floor( $start / $config['topics_per_page'] ) + 1 ) : '' . ' : metabolic balance® Forum';

viewtopic.php:
// Output the page
// www.phpBB-SEO.com SEO TOOLKIT BEGIN - TITLE
$extra_title = ($start > 0) ? ' - ' . $user->lang['Page'] . ( floor( ($start / $config['posts_per_page']) ) + 1 ) : '' . ' : metabolic balance® Forum';

Is this the proper way to do it?

"metabolic balance" is an important keyword for our product so I thought it would SEO-wise be a smart idea to add it to all the page's title. Do you agree with me?

You can do this once and for all in includes/functions.php :
Code: Select all
      'PAGE_TITLE'               => $page_title,

becomes :
Code: Select all
      'PAGE_TITLE'               => $page_title . ' : ' . $config['sitename'],

;)
