Modify postxxx.html#pnum

Postby zinnerz » Wed Oct 24, 2007 5:58 pm

Dear Dcz,

I want to use v3, but my v2 posts link is like:
adv-seo-thread-name.html#num

How to modify it in v3 to keep the post url just like before?

postxxx.html#pnum > adv-seo-thread-name.html#num (without "p")

I'm very glad to use phpBB SEO Premod, it's really cool.
Thanks a lot for phpBB SEO team for this great innovation!

Nothing is easier, go acp => phpBB SEO category and phpBB SEO class Settings.
Turn the "no duplicate" off (it's off by default) and voilà ;)

But, there is no reason to keep the post url, since they are (or at least should if you followed the install) disallowed by the robots.txt.

Dear Dcz,

Thanks for the reply, I mean how to remove prefix "p" in front of the post number. So the phpBB 3 post URL is same as the phpBB 2.

phpBB 2 SEO live board:
adv-seo-thread-name.html#num

phpBB 3 SEO testing board:
adv-seo-thread-name.html#pnum

Should not be more difficult than performing a massive search & replace on all phpBB files.
Just replace "#p" with "#".

Do you know search and replace, can be handy for doing so.

Thanks so much Dcz, it's working.
I'm using Notepad++ to do that.

Sorry Dcz, it didn't work when we click it.
When I add prefix p manually on the url then it's working.

Just wondering where is the real "p" anchor tag code... :?

Did you clear phpBB's cache after you edited the templates ? If it works with a p, the p should be used in the source code, so it could be the cache.

Anyway, was just a way to try to do it, but I don't think it's really worth it to change this.
At least url#xx and url#pxx are not duplicate, so it's not an SEO threat.

I am also upgrading my forum from phpbb2 to phpbb3 and I wonder about the same thing.

Replacing #p with # in the code doesn't seem to work.

Maybe you can "find and replace" html#0 - html#9 to html#p0 - html#p9 in the database, that's what I did.
Gud luck..
