Manually I'm afraid, but since you can compare the two directories (yours and the premod's) directly, you'll only have to check the files that actually needs to, and code change will be easy to find and check. A matter of an afternoon the first time, but faster (like down to one hour) after you practiced a bit, and it's safer to check your file against the proper ones from time to time so, it's not time loss.

I am setting a premod. If I Activate URL rewriting: I am getting 404 errors.

My page is
http://www.teluguchannelsonline.com/forum/

My .htaccess looks like this -

Code: Select all
RewriteRule ^forum/(forum|[a-z0-9_-]*-f)([0-9]+)(-([0-9]+))?\.html$ /forum/viewforum.php?f=$2&start=$4 [QSA,L,NC]
# TOPIC WITH VIRTUAL FOLDER ALL MODES
RewriteRule ^forum/(forum|[a-z0-9_-]*-f)([0-9]+)/(topic|[a-z0-9_-]*-t)([0-9]+)(-([0-9]+))?\.html$ /forum/viewtopic.php?f=$2&t=$4&start=$6 [QSA,L,NC]
# GLOBAL ANNOUNCES WITH VIRTUAL FOLDER ALL MODES
RewriteRule ^forum/announces/(topic|[a-z0-9_-]*-t)([0-9]+)(-([0-9]+))?\.html$ /forum/viewtopic.php?t=$2&start=$4 [QSA,L,NC]
# TOPIC WITHOUT FORUM ID & DELIM ALL MODES
RewriteRule ^forum/([a-z0-9_-]*)/?(topic|[a-z0-9_-]*-t)([0-9]+)(-([0-9]+))?\.html$ /forum/viewtopic.php?forum_uri=$1&t=$3&start=$5 [QSA,L,NC]

I just found, if i rename the page with additional /forum in between it works

for example:
is working

actualy link it generates is
-www.teluguchannelsonline.com/forum/telugu-movies-f4.html
is not working.

how to set the .htaccess accordingly?

thanks

Any thing I need to change - any help appreciated. thanks

So it looks like you did put this .htaccess in the forum/ directory instead of in your domain's root directory as the red message of the .htaccess generator must have told you to do.

Make sure to only use one .htaccess and to implement it where advised to.

I just wanted to point out that a lot of the prblems that people have in this thread, and on the site in general, could be easily avoided by simply reading the instructions and paying attention to what your doing.

Pay close attention to the instructions when you install mod's, missing any step will usually result in a broken mod. This is especially the case with the mod's on this site. A single missed or improperly done file edit, messed up setting or just not paying attention to what a page is telling you can result in a serious impact on your site. This is one of the reasons we recommend every user to set up a local test server so they can get everything modded, setup how they want and working properly without having to worry about their site being negatively effected every time you mess up a setting or try something you shouldn't or even are just trying to figure out where to put the htaccess.

Too often we are all in a hurry and too often it costs us more time because we have to do things twice. So everyone do yourself a favor and slow down, read the manual and all other information, and pay closer attention to what your doing when changing a setting or generating the .htaccess .

This is not directed at any one person, just a generally good idea for us all.

Good luck.
