Just installed Premod but can't activate it! HELP!

Postby Lotus » Wed May 04, 2011 2:38 am

Hi, I just uploaded all the files for the premod EXCEPT config.php and INSTALL - because I already had clean install of phpbb... anyway my forum is still working fine and I see the PHPBB SEO.COM button at the bottom of the forum page... however if I log into admin panel and then try to view page phpBB/phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.php it says

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Does anyone know why? My server is using IIS. THANKS!

So you've read : [HOW TO] Install the phpBB SEO premod on phpBB

Lotus wrote:My server is using IIS.

This may be problematic.

It is possible to adapt the rewrite rules, but it's not automatic : Isapi_rewrite phpBB3

About the install, try to delete /comment this part :
Code: Select all
// Security check
// Circumvent a potential phpbb bug with paths
$redirect = append_sid(generate_board_url() . "/phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.$phpEx");
if (!$user->data['is_registered']) {
   login_box($redirect, $user->lang['SEO_LOGIN'],'', false, false);
}
if (!$auth->acl_get('a_')) {
   $user->session_kill(true);
   login_box($redirect, $user->lang['SEO_LOGIN_ADMIN'],'', false, false);
}
if ($user->data['user_type'] != USER_FOUNDER) {
   login_box($redirect, $user->lang['SEO_LOGIN_FOUNDER'],'', false, false);
}

And if not enough, this one also :
Code: Select all
// Try to override some limits - maybe it helps some...
@set_time_limit(0);
$mem_limit = @ini_get('memory_limit');
if (!empty($mem_limit)) {
   $unit = strtolower(substr($mem_limit, -1, 1));
   $mem_limit = (int) $mem_limit;
   if ($unit == 'k') {
      $mem_limit = floor($mem_limit / 1024);
   } else if ($unit == 'g') {
      $mem_limit *= 1024;
   } else if (is_numeric($unit)) {
      $mem_limit = floor((int) ($mem_limit . $unit) / 1048576);
   }
   $mem_limit = max(128, $mem_limit) . 'M';
} else {
   $mem_limit = '128M';
}
@ini_set('memory_limit', $mem_limit);

If you do so, you must delete the file as soon as you've run the script since it will then be publicly accessible (or you can put back the original one).

What file is that in and where do I find it? Is that in the httpd.ini file? Where is the httpd.ini file?

My host says I have a built in mod rewrite feature, see here: http://help.webcontrolcenter.com/KB/a14 ... 8iis7.aspx can someone help me with this? I don't know what to edit or where to edit. My host said to use my .htaccess file instead of httpd.ini file. All i have done is upload the premod files, my forum still works but can't use the rewrite features

phpBB/phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.php

Is it working ?

Once installed you'll have access to the .htaccess generator, if you can use .htaccess, then it should work out of the box.

No, that's the problem when I try to view phpbb/phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.php I get the following error:

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I uploaded all the premod files and my forum now has the phpbb SEO button at the bottom of each page, and the forum still works the same - but I can't view the phpbb_seo_install.php page to set it up. My host enabled the rewrite feature and they said to use htaccess instead of the ini file. I don't know what to do.

I deleted both bits of code from the phpbb_seo_install.php file and still can't access it from admin panel I get 500 - Internal Server Error. I have attached my phpbb_seo_install.php file, please look at it to see if it looks right to you.

Something I don't get, you're not supposed to access this file from the acp, but rather directly from phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.php.

I didn't mean I access it from admin panel, I just meant I was logged into the forum as admin if that mattered. I access the page by simply putting the url in the address bar i.e. -http://forum.domain.com/phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_install.php and it gives me the 500 error. When using IIS is there anything else I'm suppose to do before accessing this page?

Well, there is no obvious reason why this script would not work under IIS. Do you have an .htaccess file in phpbb_seo/ ?

Also, I'm thinking that is may be related to the web.config file in phpbb's root, try to delete :
Code: Select all
   <location path="phpbb_seo">
      <system.webServer>
         <security>
            <requestFiltering>
               <hiddenSegments>
                  <add segment="cache" />
               </hiddenSegments>
            </requestFiltering>
         </security>
      </system.webServer>
   </location>

Or even the file itself in case it helps.

Ok so it may have been the trouble in the first place, try with the original phpbb_seo_install.php.

So it says this but I don't have isapi_reqrite module, I have some other rewrite feature enabled on my hosting acccount, do you think what I have will work? Will I need to edit the .htaccess file instead of ini file, that what my host provider said.

IIS server (windows OS) with isapi_rewrite module, but you will need to adapt the rewriterules in the httpd.ini
