Not working on test site, please help!

Dear forum members, i have a situation were i need to put a test site online ASAP with my site's phpbb forum (with the SEO mod).
I had already moved the files and db's, and connect them.
while i can see the forum front page and also members, PM, Profile pages...the rest of the forum that uses the mod are getting 404 error.
My test site has an address of the server and is 2 folders from the root:
so i set up the base URL like that: RewriteBase /folder1/folder2

My forum and .htaccess file are in the 2nd folder.

what is wrong?

thank you very much

If your htaccess is in the second folder,
your rewrite base should be /

not /folder1/folder2

The base is a relative path.

RewriteBase /folder1/folder2
would only work if all of it was contained the root http docs directory.

Not exactly, you can use rewritebase /dir in dir/ as long as you do not use dir/ in the rewriterules.

Anyway, the easier here would be to let the .htaccess generator handle the case, at least to start with.
Try checking the "more options" option in the .htaccess generator, and then, check "alternate location", it will build an .htaccess meant to be used in the phpBB install dir (of course if not root).
