Cannot get Mod Rewrite to work :(

Postby magicant » Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:15 am

Hi Everyone..

I've been trying for 3 days now to get the Advanced module for phpbb version 2 to work.

The problem lies in the mod re-write I think... i've made all the changes from the installation txt, and tried a thousand different combinations for the mod rewrite but it always either brings up page cannot be found or takes me back to my homepage.

I've tried a .htaccess file in both root directory of domain, and folder where my forums are.

Can anyone advise? The url's are being generated but it just doesn't take me to the page !

All the best

Looks like an .htaccess issue.

First thing is to make sure that mod_rewrite is available.

Then, if it is, you just need to set the proper paths in the rewriterule, and eventually play with slashes a bit, in case your server settings are requiring it.
The idea is that you'll need the same slashes as per the mod_rewrite test I just mentioned.
