Simple Subforums + phpBB SEO

Postby LaHrrS_LoVeLL » Wed Jun 13, 2007 12:08 pm

First off, thank you for writing this script. I've been pleased so far and only run across this one problem. I have the simple sub-forum mod installed, which gives me an option to create a one level deep hierachy. Now on the index of my site, the other mod I have installed is topics on the index, which shows where the latest reply has been posted. The URL's do not convert to SEO (.html) Is there anyway I can implement this option?

hi LaHrrS_LoVeLL an welcome

if you are using advance or mixed mod rewrite you must install a patch to make simple subforum compatible with mod rewrites. you can find this patch here

but i think your problem is something else. you must patch your topics on index mod for solving this problem. there is patch here that can solve your problem.

Excellent, thank you for your fast reply and help! Everything works fine. Apart from the Latest topic on Index - There seems to be some confusion. The MOD I am using is this one: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=350442

Which displays the latest post in the forum column on the index!
Any patches or is this un supported as of yet?

your using different version of latest post on index. there is something for you in this topic.

are you using zero duplicate mod ?
if you have this mod you can leave that URLs in your index in its default form. zero dupe will redirect all of them to proper html pages. i suggest you to install this mod too.

It's does completely different things. Let me show you:

This is what MY mod does. and the links you can see on your right don't convert.

Note: I do not have category hierachy installed! This is just an example image!

Thank you again for the fast reply!

wow, your are usnig something that im using in my forum. your mod is diffrent. let DCZ see this topic. he can solve it for you.
by the way with using zero duplication mod you can redirect all of that links with .php prefix to proper .html one. for example i have a mod in my forum that can find similar topics and show them under each topic. see this page

http://forum.persia-cms.com/phpbb-3-phpbb3-vt844.html

at the bottom of the page there is some links to related topics. move your mouse cursor on topic titles. all of them have .php prefix. click on one of them and see the URL in address bar :D .
zero dupelicate can redirect link to proper html equivalent URL with 301 redirect. its completely safe.

You've been of extreme help to me. Thank you very much. When the forum is finished and your interested in seeing it then I'll link you up.

Everything is fixed. I'll hang around and pass on my knowledge to repay the favor.
