Google Says Some Pages Missing Meta Tags

Postby legal » Sun Jul 16, 2006 7:12 pm

Hi All.
When I log in to Google to check up on my sitemaps etc. I'm seeing this:

Pages from your site are included in Google's index. [?]

Index stats

Some of these pages are indexed without a title or description. [?]

Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Jul 12, 2006.

Now:

1. Only my Index page is indexed in Google.
2. All my pages share the same Description but have different Title Meta Tags (thanks to the help of dcz on this board :D )

So my question is...what's Google moaning about and why will they only index my Index page?

Curse you Googlebot!

(Thanks guys)

you're welcome ;)

A link would be suitable to analyse a bit further.

Normally, if you installed the dynamic meta tags, you should have a personalised description tag per page, so ...

Well I cant find any mx Google Sitemap installation on your site.

As well, I think you should at least think of implementing the cyber alien guest session mod, or better go for one of the phpBB SEO mod Rewrite, the simple one is very simple, the mixed, as well ;)

This to be index-able, because it's merely not possible with SIDs in URLs as it is now.

Just to clarify, I need to do cyber alien guest session mod before I do phpBB SEO mod Rewrite?

Then, before you proceed, you must get rid of the session variable (SID) from phpBB's URL.
Cyber Alien's Guest Sessions is a good solution.

Hello
that are two seo mods
the first "cyber alien guest session" delete for example "&sid=37067346703630" for guest (like search engines) at the end of your urls (search engine frindly)
The Seo mod rewrite (there are 3 different mod_rewrite) change your urls to static urls ....html instead of ....php.

Thanks very much guys.
OK, I've just installed the MX Google Sitemaps mod and it appears to be working. One step at a time...one mod a day.

Good schedule :)

Do not submmit your google sitemaps right know if you plan to install a mod rewrite, as you'll have different URLs than the vanilla one, and mx google sitemap will need a small change (overwriting a file) to switch standard ;)

Damn, too late. Not to worry.
I've actually just done the dynamic meta tags mod as well as it didn't look like too much work.
What an amazing mod, I can already see it working really well.

If you submitted your Google sitemap, I think you should take it away of your account until you decide yourself on which URL you'll choose.

And Thanks ;)

one question: Wich is the advantage of using dinamic meta tags?? this really works? i have read somewhere that can be worst that use nothing, because we cannot control the tags

So dinamic meta tags choose the right tags for each forum? or use random tags?

google uses meta tags?? i think not. Well sorry if im so newbie, i will try to learn fast jejjeje

it is true that is is far better not to use any meta tags than to use very bad ones, but here it's not the case.

For sure Search Engines will not like over rank your web site if you use nice meta tags, but it's still a small plus to provide dynamic meta tags, especially if they do reflect the page's content.
And here it will be the case, as all the info will be taken from the actual content : Category Titles, Forum titles and descriptions, topic title and a set of the most used words in the first post, everything is actually taken from the page's content.
Take a look at how they are outputted in this site ;)

MSN seems to love the dynamic metatags and it also looks way better on the serp's.
I think they also contribute to relevant ads if you're running adsense (or something similar) but i'm not sure.
