Moving from phpBB 3.0.1 to phpBB SEO PreMod 3.0.4

Postby DeeLondon » Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:01 pm

I have an existing phpBB 3.0.1 forum that I want to move to phpBB SEO PreMod 3.0.4 - I've tried backing up the data only in the first database and importing it back in the modded version and at first it appears fine with all the users and posting intact, but after trying to sign in it appears to start logging in but then it's like you never logged in at all.

I want everything to reside on the same server and location - I just want to install it in a different directory for testing and once it's all working correctly I want to switch the directory names to the original one.

There is approx 500 users and 500 topics with about 2000 posts.

The best would be to run the latest install/database_update.php (from any update package) on your 3.0.1 DB before you import it (do not do it on the online forum!).

Then, read this about migrating from phpBB3 to our SEO premod (same version) :
http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/phpbb-s ... t1962.html

If you change domain and or directory for phpBB, you'll need to edit the phpbb_config table for script_path, server_name and cookie domain to match the new location. Make sure you clear the cache/ dir (except the .htaccess) after you do this.

Sounds like good advice but I can't seem to find the regular automatic upgrade from phpBB 3.0.1 to 3.0.4 all the upgrades seem to start at 3.0.2 - I'll keep on looking .. but if anyone know where to get an upgrade from 3.0.1 upwards would be grateful for pointers in the right direction.

You do not need any update package if you proceed as advised above.

Only the latest eg 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 to get the install/database_update.php script (will update the db from any version of phpBB3).
