Brackets in url's

I'm having a lot of problems with brackets posted in url's at the moment.

If someone posts a link that contains brackets ( or ) the link does now work and often the whole post just appears blank.

Also I have just signed up as an affiliate for a large firm that sells over 18,000 items and in order to deep link they use brackets in the url, like this-

Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated?

I don't have a fix handy, but I assume it would involve URL encoding. I've noticed that phpBB's url tag sometimes chokes on URLs with odd characters in them and resorted to doing it manually (e.g., via one of the sites I found searching on url+encoding).

I have tried encoding the links, but then the link does not work as it should and it just leads to an error page on the affiliate site.

I have just emailed their support to see if they can come up with a solution.
