Sytemap Gym Url rewrite problem.

Postby Newweb » Wed Jul 09, 2008 7:04 am

HI, the new mod of GYM Sitemap is wonderful really.

In my case I have a problem.

I use mod rewrite on my phpbb3.01
So in ACP I set only in "Main Configuration" the command "Acrivate URL rewriting"
In Google sitemaps and in RSS feeds I don't set it becouse it says "This option is currently overridden at the top level (Main configuration)"

When I set in this way SitemapIndex link me to a sitemapindex.xml and this file open page 404 error.

If I set URL rewriting in this way:

Main configuration URL rewrting no - type none - zero duplicate no

Google Sitemaps URL rewriting yes - type advanced

RSS Feeds URL rewriting yes - type advanced - Handle GYM 1x ... yes

SitemapsIndex link me to sitemap.php and not to sitemapindex.xml, first level is all as .php files and second level is with correct url rewrite ( files .html.
RSS Feeds is ok ( only hour is wrong ... two hours of difference )

Can you tell me how can I do ?

For the 404, you need to implement the rewriterules provided in the install file in your .htaccess, with the proper paths and slashes (using the same path and slashes as with the other phpBB rewriterules should so it).

I know it is told that the .htaccess generator will do the job, but it will only be the case when the mod rewrite will have been updated for phpBB 3.0.2.

Then, about the settings and overriding, welcome to GYM sitemaps complexity (some could say vast possibilities).

The idea is that you set overriding for some classes of settings, such as url rewriting, caching etc ... These overriding levels are set in the gym main acp tab and at the output type level (Google sitemaps and RSS feeds).

By default, overriding are set on url rewriting to be handled at the highest level, as told in the red message, so you need to activate it in the main configuration tab to activate it once and for all.
The phpBB SEO mod rewrites are auto detected with all settings, nothing more to do for the forum links if you are using it ;)

The feature is not implemented yet, but that would be a good thing to add. I don't think that it is a problem for sitemaps though, since it still tells which content is the freshest and when it was issued, it's only using GMT.

It's a bit more annoying for feeds I admit, at least if all your user are using the same non GMT time.
