Sitemap giving Warnings in Google Webmaster Tools

Postby microtekblue » Mon Apr 06, 2009 2:34 am

Hello,,

I installed this mod and now when I checked Google webmaster tools, it seems the sitemap has some warnings.

Here are the warnings for the sitemaps in Google Webmaster tools.

URLs not followed
When we tested a sample of URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs redirect to other locations. We recommend that your Sitemap contain URLs that point to the final destination (the redirect target) instead of redirecting to another URL

All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority.
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important.

All the URLs in your Sitemap are marked as having dynamic content.
All the URLs in your Sitemap are marked as having dynamic content (the value of is "always"). Because dynamic content is difficult for search engines to crawl and index, this may impact your site's performance in search results. Check your Sitemap to make sure your site information is correct.

Is there any fix for these warnings?

Thanks

The first one is most likely due to topic title editing and /or topic moving. The sitemaps will keep the old urls until it gets refreshed, so it's only temporary and not a drama at all.

For the other two, please read this thread :
sitemaps - warnings (google webmaster tools)

Hello,

Thanks for the help.

Also, What do you mean by that exactly? Because of the redirects?

I am getting these errors in webmaster tools:

URL restricted by robots.txt

Redirect error

There are about 169 links on our forum that are showing the Redirect error. Why is this happening and how can we fix this issue?

Also, according to Google these links are not being indexed.

Please advise.

Thanks

It just takes some time until google updates the displayed error messages.

For the robots.txt restriction, it's hard to tell without some example of disallowed urls. But usually, left others are private threads. Make sure that you did not implement the robtot.txt too early, in case you where updating urls from natural to rewritten ones (if so drop the robots.txt and put it back after at least two month have passed).

Heres what I always had in my robots.txt

Disallow: /viewtopic.php
Disallow: /viewforum.php
Disallow: /index.php?
Disallow: /posting.php
Disallow: /groupcp.php
Disallow: /search.php
Disallow: /login.php
Disallow: /privmsg.php
Disallow: /post
Disallow: /member
Disallow: /profile.php
Disallow: /memberlist.php
Disallow: /faq.php

I didnt change anything. As it was there from the mixed rewrite url mod.

SO I should remove this whole robots.txt to solve the problem?

I think becuz of the rewrites etc the /viewtopic.php is causing the problem.

Also, some of our links when clicked etc or sent to as a email notification, do not show static anymore but show as viewtopic.php?p=5586#5586

So ur saying that will also go away on its own?

Thanks

I was rather talking about the url that google was considering as disallowed.

But anyway, if it's been a long time that your forum is url rewirtten and with the robots.txt you posted, keeping it is safe.
