[Fixed] 404 problem (edit: godaddy webhosting issue)

Postby Zhak » Sat Apr 21, 2007 5:36 am

EDITED: As I said, it was my webhosting who has a delay updating htaccess files I upload, after 30 mins it worked.
I'm sorry.
Those who have www.godaddy.com as webhost have to wait a bit :P.

Thanks!

I've heard this same answer. The "good" news is that the delay is one-time only. After the .htaccess is uploaded and recognized, all subsequent changes are recognized immediately.

Interesting.

And better as well, at least, if it's only once, it's ok.

Hmm, I don't know :S this happens to me very frequently with godaddy, sometimes it loads the new htaccess inmediatly, sometimes not, I'm using htaccess files from two years :P

Anyways, Godaddy is cheap and fast :P

I never had this issue before but it appears right now I might be!

Do we need to make any other changes with godaddy or just this wait?

I'm using the simple seo version

This is my website, http://theforumgeek.com/

I'm putting a new forum here, http://www.upspam.com/forum/

I'm starting to think I need to call godaddy! I added the htaccess file a week ago

Have you called or e-mailed GoDaddy support? My site is hosted with them and .htaccess updates are instantaneous.

Actually now I'm getting a 500 internal server error!

See here, 500 Internal Server Error

This is after I called then and they said nothing is wrong!

500 internal server error = typo in your .htaccess.

I posted the file wrapped in code tags in that other topic!

Could you have a look?

Sorry, I see no obvious error. Unfortunately Apache doesn't provide the offending line / line number. I sometimes resort to commenting out chunks of the file until I narrow down the line(s) at fault.

BTW, the ACL phpbb-seo > .htaccess tab shows a copy/paste ready .htaccess that certainly should be valid.
