{ appearing after installing mod

Postby HoradeJogar » Sun Dec 07, 2008 7:57 pm

Hi. I've tried to install Mixed mod.
I've installed basic mode, but it's very simple so I decided to change to mixed. It was working, but "{" were appearing everywhere.

So I've desinstalled it but the { persists!
I've also send all not change files back but the errors are there

Take a look:

What should I do in order to fix it and install mixed mod again?

Thank you!

Hello,

looks like some language files are missing. Are you sure they are all at the correct places on your webspace (for all installed languages)?
When you have checked this, please also purge the cache on the main page in ACP.

That was it!
Oh my god!

Can you answer me another thing?
If basic, mixed and advanced mod rewrites downloads comes with the files already edited and an option too edit it, why should we install basic (if we until have no mods installed)?

Glad you got it working. :)

Do you mean the advantages of Simple mod Rewrite in comparison to Mixed and Advanced mod Rewrite?

Simple mod Rewrite should be a bit faster (but that should only be important on very big boards).
On the other hand to have topic titles in the URL (like Advanced mod Rewrite provides) can be a bit problematic, e.g. when you have to change the titles of your topics regularly. (Okay, Google will be redirected correctly then, but in this case it is better to have just one URL like topic55.html from the beginning.)

Thank you again Wolfgang.
I've downloaded Advanced mod, I'll not have to change the titles regularly and my forum is just a complement to my arcade website. I was "really in love" with advanced, but I saw it is only available for phpbb2.0.22. Is it really true or does SeO forgot to update the topic? If it's real, I'll use Mixed, as I don't liked basic (it seems a bit poor seo optimization tool)

Hi,

I don't know if Advanced URL Rewrite works with 2.0.23 but I'm pretty sure it will. (Were there a lot of changes between 2.0.22 and 2.0.23? I can't remember. But I will never forget the Helloween update...)

So your question should be answered by admin or moderator.

(BTW: What about upgrading to 3.0.3? )

Wolfgang
