Advanced mod_rewrite V0.0.2 404 Not found error

Postby msolano » Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:43 pm

Hi!.

I have my joomla site with SEO activated. As it works then i thought that i could mod my forum with this great SEO rewrite mod.

I have robots.txt and .htaccess files in my phpBB2 directory as you indicate (forum installed in subdirectory phpBB2)

Because i had 404-Not found error then i install everything in my local machine. I have the same problem at my local machine.

My local site url is: http://localhost:8080/phpBB2
and the error when i try to see a forum is:
Not Found
The requested URL /phpBB2/test-forum-vf1.html was not found on this server

Can you or anybody else help me! Thanks a lot!!!!

You thus need to put all the rewriterules in the same .htaccess, the one located at the root level.

Since it's a general matter which will be interesting to other, I suggest you start a new thread in the Apache mod Rewrite Forum and ask for some help merging the two .htaccess.

You could keep the two .htaccess separated, but this would cause problem if you which to use the www prefix redirection.
And it's no big deal to run all those rewriterules from root, since the reg-ex first check for paths, is fast.

If your forum is installed in a sub domain, like here basically, then, the .htaccess should not mention any path and should be located in the phpBB install folder, being the sub domain's root ;)

There are several topic talking about how to deal with phpBB installed in sub domains already here, ask for more details in those if needed.

I wish I already had time to cover all those subjects with nice articles, but, this is the beginning so ...

Do not hesitate to ask for help ;)

phpbb seo changes url

Postby 2klix » Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:08 am

I have the phpbb seo set up on a local install and when I try the links in the top menu not all the pages open, when I look at the urls, I notice that they are not consistant. They should be like this: -http://localhost:8888/phpbb/faq.php
but some are like this :
-http://localhost/forum.html and they of course don't open. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening.
Thanks
Matt

Aren't you talking about phpBB3 ?

If so, please post in the proper forum.
