This is more of a technical matter.

The "-vt", "-vf", "-vc" .. are useful as told here for the Reg-Ex to "understand" we are talking about a topic, forum or category and to "tell" it the corresponding ID (and page if applying) just follows.
Then, the mod_rewrite passes the good ID and param to the right php script.

Now, with major modding of phpBB one could prefer to select upon titles, like for some cms dealing with mod rewritten URLs without any ID or delimiter.
But, this would cause other problem, the first one being you could not have too time the same title and there is no way to go faster than to SELECT IDs (number) to find the right topic, imagine if you perform a SELECT on a title in a 200K topic boards. SELECTING the ID will be very fast, as the topic are sorted, but titles ...

So that's why a delimiter and ID is used here, less modding (a lot) for better performances.

You mean as here on this site ?

Well, it's a lot more heavy, and experimental so far. Read this post for more details.

Yes it's normal, and actually, this is the same here ;)

No real need to rewrite URLs bots will never see.

And this one link is not very likely to be posted by members, just like the email notification link.

For sure, it could be a bit nicer, but we need as well to wisely use our server resources ;)

Prepáčte, ale potrebujete minimálne 5 príspevkov pre vstup do tohoto fóra

I dont know what this means but its what I get when I try to get into your forum - I assume its telling me to log in? If so then that will be why nothings indexed, googlebot cant log in.

And, what's helping the most at first for a good indexing is the mx Google sitemaps mod, which you do not seem to use.

Then, results are to be waited a bot more than two week, please post a report, install mx Google sitemaps and we'll see what happens in a month ;)

As well do not hesitate to ask for help to find out what would be required to go further in Search Engine Optimizing your site in the Seo Techniques Forum.

And guess what, his PageRank Is 4, yours is three, he has 200 Google Backlinks, you have 100, then, he did not change URLs in the past two weeks, and I told you it requires at least a month to see result.

In the end, there are and will be many site that will be better ranked that yours, that's how life is.

Now, if your are too lazy for mx Google sitemaps, then, you'll have to wait even more to be fully indexed.

Then your greater problem seems to be the fact that you deleted many topics, recently it seems.

Anyway, still 266 page in Google, 182 in msn, I'd not call it nothing, even though you should continue your SEO effort, reading this for example.

If you really want us to follow what you are doing and to assist you more precisely, a report would help.

You only need to add the following rewriterules, from the contrib/ folder, at the end of your phpBB .htaccess :
Code: Select all
# phpBB
RewriteRule ^sitemaps.xml$ /sitemap.php [L]
RewriteRule ^forum-sitemap-([0-9]+).xml$ /sitemap.php?fid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^sitemap-forum.xml$ /sitemap.php?forum [L]

As your forum is installed in root.

But, this only is useful if you activate mod rewrite for the Google sitemaps links.

You'll need as well to use the premodded files provided in the contrib folder to output the correct URL for the forum (correct mod rewrite) in the Google Sitemaps Listings.

Please use the mx Google Sitemaps support thread ;)
