Wich are the best engines?

Postby Darth Pincho » Sun Oct 08, 2006 4:38 pm

After doing a lot of google SEO and sitempas works im wondering about to submit my site to real productive Search Engines.

Anyone have a URL or list with the rankings of the best search engines? in order to work in the SEO for secon, third.... etc. best engines.

I recently submit to DMOZ but im not listed yet :(

DMOZ submission can really take for ever, up to 6 month , but it's worth it ;)

Then, the order is very simple :

1) Google
2) Yahoo
3) MSN
4) depends, usually you end up with AOL or other search engine reusing one of the previous three results
5) many other, but usually with very few visits.

The good thing here is that what we are doing for Google is useful for other search engines. Mx Google sitemaps is now only used by Google, but wait until I upgrade it and it will be useful to all as well :D

You also might want to check this site for a good list of directories

now days you dont need to submit to search engines, spiders crawl your site once every few days if not every day, so dont bother :)

I agree. In fact, the incoming traffic from Google so dwarfs the rest, I have considered blocking all but the top 3 under the "put out or get out" rule, simply because they send more bots than visitors. One that really puzzles me is ask.com. They have pricey prime-time TV ads pimping their site and my site's incoming traffic attributable to them has yet to break the one digit barrier. Maybe they're not so popular because their results pages have about as many sponsored results as actual?
