Well PageRank is not really the most important in a way here.

I mean PageRank really means something, but as well many pages with small PageRanks are showing up decently in search Results.

To me, a good PageRank is more something that tells you Search engine love your site, which is good, but our goal is to have our users to love our web-sites, this being a lot more important.

The more PageRank you'll have, the better and faster you'll be crawled, but once you are fully crawled, it's not necessarily of a big difference to increase it, even though for sure it is better.

Now, this being said, meaning this is just not necessarily where we should put all our effort, we should of course work to obtain the best PageRank. But in the end, internal linking and content will do a lot for it.

All this to tell you of course, your need backlinks, but you need good ones as well. It's not necessarily the number that counts, but rather the quality.
You want Backlinks with some PageRank from web site with related content.

A nice link on a related web-site home page with a PR 5 will certainly do a better job than a hundred in crappy directories not even offering natural linking ( using redirections ) and will for sure attract more real users as well.

So my idea about optimizing PageRank, is to do it while you do other stuff.
If you search for link exchange with related web-sites, then, you'll work in the same time for PageRanking and user traffic.
If you install mx sitemaps, the same, as I find it useful for users too.

Automated submission can of course work, but you need to first find out where those will be posted and make sure it is useful.

A simple and efficient manner to obtain backlinks in related site is to be an active member of these related communities as well.

Obtaining Backlinks is for sure a major task, but shall never overcome the efforts we put in content, and PageRank is a long run anyway as you'll need to go through several Google Dance to see it reach interesting values.
Time time time again, and again, and optimized site will transmit it faster to its content which will then provide better internal linking and raise PR.

PR => crawl => transmission to content and thus content with PR linked to your home page => transmit PR back ;)

One last thing, it is as well better to regularly post new links than to proceed through steps. It's not that good if you obtain let say 1000 link in a week, then none for a year. We know Google is comparing web site growing rate and kind of profile web sites. So I am pretty sure regularity is here something important too.

You state pagerank is not a 'top priority'?
But is pagerank not directly linked to one site showing up before or after the competitors eg. in a Google search.
So, to exist on the web, if one as a lot (even crappy) competitors, but already with high pagerank, I think pagerank is very important.
Or do I misunderstand the above?

Like to hear your thoughts on this.

Well PageRank is important, but the Search Engine Results do not only depend on it and you're web site's success as well.

This only means you should not concentrate all your effort on PageRank only, but rather on content first. I really think that the PageRank Fight is of a long run in all cases, so it's something to work on, but nether to only focus on.

What we need is good quality backlinks and to maintain a regular growth.

Great info.
I've also read about 'penalties' if the links are of topic to the website....
So should I avoid (or at least no have it on all the time) having a signature to my site which focusses on a medical condition. When I'm having questions on phpBB, website-design, php, SEO.... all technical, none topic to my site

What do you think about this?

'Hunting' for relevant links is clear, I should go into writing articles and provide good quality content. (Which is the aim of my site anyway).
But I would be afraid of getting penalty for having 'bad' links.

Well, the important is to have a decent proportion of good backlinks.

Because a backlink on a strong PR page, even unrelated will bring bots and visitors to your site for sure.

If for example you could have a link on phpBB home page (PR 9), there is now way it could hurt your Ranking, what we would not want would be backlinks only coming from unrelated websites or worst, only coming from a single domain being unrelated.

That's why backlinking is a long and never ending run, we should consider every occasion we have to make more and set priority among them to always work on the best one we can actually obtain.

Seo Submission Details

Postby lavanya » Tue May 15, 2007 7:40 am

do you improve your page rank.you take Seo Submission.
Below is 12 ways I find the most efficient in generating traffic to your site:

1. Pay Per Click. The Fastest way to get exposure online in world is by advertising with PPC (Pay Per Click) programs. Ads start running within minutes after you submit your billing information. You bid on relevant keywords and pay the bid amount each time someone clicks on the link through to your site.

2. Traditional Website Optimization. The factors that you must know for getting the top rankings: title of the page, description META tag, keyword META tag, in your headline, use HTML Tag, your first line of text, once or twice per paragraph, once/twice in bold, in the text of a link.

3. Weblog Optimization. Blogs are short for weblogs which is just an online journal where you can post articles, news and just comment on anything you want. You can set blogs up for free by using blogger which is also run by Google.

4. Article Marketing. Search engines love content, and it's that very content that let's you invite traffic from search engines. Here are double benefits from using this method: drive direct targeted visitors from hundreds of high traffic sites and increase your page rank and link popularity.

5. Press Release. A press release is news about your business. It is not an ad. Focus on telling your potential customers something about your business. Remember the who, what, when, where, why, and how of journalism.

6 Link Exchange. A good link exchange is when you exchange links with a site that is relevant to yours and complements yours because it is on the same or similar topic. This methods can increase your PR website.

7. Blog & RSS Directories. Blog and Ping is a service that you can use to let the blog and RSS directories know that you have updated your blog.

8. Autoresponder system. Once you run online advertising to drive traffic to your landing pages, so that you can collect subscribers. Many internet marketers neglect to build their own mailing list, and are losing out in a big way. Don't be one of them. Top internet marketers ALL build their own mailing lists.

9. Ezine Marketing. There are thousands upon thousands of ezines published on the Internet, and chances are excellent that there are many ezines published on a topic relevant to your site.

10. Viral Marketing. Viral Marketing allows you to build up your own opt-in list. These types of systems are usually based on some type of viral matrix, smiliar to a multi level marketing set up.

11. Auction. The system that ruthlessly convert visitors to bidders to finding wholesale suppliers and drop shippers all over the world for any product you want.

12. Traffic Exchange. Some systems require you to log-in to a "start page" and start surfing across other member's web pages. Each page you view earns you credit towards increased display of your own site.

Thanks

And welcome :D

What you say is very true, and that's exactly the points covered by our SEO scripts for phpBB forums, page titles, meta tags, url rewriting, html and google sitemaps ...

Off course, you're right to talk about how content and backlinks are important, the most IMHO.

Feel free to present your website and post links to it, but please, do it in the member's site forum, would be a good start ;)

You can as well subscribe to our directory if you like (it's going to be updated and will be soon very different, but links will be kept).

To build backlinks, you could start submitting articles (good ones) to article submission sites

I've done that in the past, but question whether it's worth the trouble. Google's incoming traffic dwarfs the others (Yahoo, MSN, and the bazillion other search engine wannabies). I'm not a fan of World Domination by any one player, but what can you do? Google provides good (free) tools for webmasters, keeps up with site changes, and doesn't abuse the server with stupid refreshes like Yahoo et al do.

IMO, the only free directory worth the trouble is DMOZ because it's picked up by lots of other search engines. I would have to double-check to be certain, but I believe the combined traffic from the search engines beyond Google/Yahoo/MSN is less than 1%.

First of all, we need to understand how serch engine decide website’s page rank, Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be, if you can get more back links then you can easily get higher PR. Below are some method of back links.

1. Join forums, blogs and other discussion group, in most forums you are allowed to have a signature and in your signature you can put a link to your website. Pick up 20 most important or most related to your website, their forum player high rank in page rank calculation.

2. Submit to search engine directories. Search engine directories are a good way to get a free link to your website. They also increase your chances at being listed higher on popular search engines like Google, and overture.
Most search engine directories allow you to submit to their website for free. This will allow you to increase your web presence by being listed on another search engine, and it will also be a free link.

3. Create useful information in your website for you audience and then they will cite your website in other places, this is the key and ultimate way to increase page rank. Google search engine is audience or reader oriented, more citation, more contents, more readers then high PR.

4. Publishing and submitting articles. Articles are an easy source of generating new traffic. Again you can include your signature in your article. This will bring in more traffic from article submission directories.
