Any info on googlebot switches like the user logged in ones?

Postby volf » Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:24 pm

I would like to hide information like left side menus and other irrelevant and information from google bot and thus only get the things that matter indexed.

Is there any way to accomplish this, one way would be to use the user logged in/out switches but id prefer hiding the irelevant only from google bot?

Any info on this would be apreasiated

The problem here isn't how, the problem is doing this would be cloaking and thus could lead up to a blacklist in Google.

You can safely filter content for registered non registered users, but if you do it for bots only, it will be cloaking.

Ah didnt think about that. The site im currently working on is for guests filtering guest content is not an option.

This is for a site im hosting, so guess ill just look in to ways of getting people to post longer posts.

Edit: Forgot to say thanks :)
