Personally I find the natural process of Google indexing these links better, this way the link building looks more organic and natural, even if it isn't. If you force a ping you may trigger an alert to Google and the site may get sandboxed if it's newer. If I were you I would just give the big G time to index those links since usually it doesn't take too long, but someone else may have more details for you about 'pinging', in not too informed about it yet.

To index some pages faster you can use the "View as Googlebot" -> "Send to index" feature in the webmaster tools. Works within ~24 hours for me.

Ask all your models to create their personal websites from any web designing company be it a new domain (better) or free personal blog websites through various blogging websites and then ask for a simple backlink to your your website. As and when they will improve their websites, your website will improve automatically. If they get their websites designed preferably by an SEO company like PlaceOnTop.com which is in Delhi itself, it is even better because the seo company will increase the value of the back link to you.

what keywords are you trying to rank for? start updating your site regularly and look at your competition and where they are getting their links from and start there.

As other said ... check your competitors and try to get similar links as they do (with similar or better).

Try to talk directly to the blogs authors in your topic, maybe they will share informations about your website (create for them ready text so they can easily put this in the blog). Sometimes it works.
Be creative and try to get some backlinks every day - it is really important.
