Wrong url shows up...

Postby Gimmpy » Tue Aug 13, 2013 5:45 pm

So when I google my site forum.anarchyst-it.com, I see that the URL that appears to be the main one is the Virtualization forum....

How is it I go about changing this?

and in fact upon further review, the entire thing is screwed up. Currently it shows the ATI-Cpu's sub forum as being last active when There have been 0 posts in it....

Well, it re-indexed it but for one reason or another its showing more pages but the same page shows up as the main area....

>_> perhaps ive screwed up some code somewhere.

I was able to get it to index more sites by giving it the sitemap and using their highlighter tool in the webmaster area, but its still not doing what i want.

Any help would be amazing!

Another quick thing that I just noticed. When googling forum.anarchyst-it.com from a totally different network than my own, I see that it is actually the Vied forum - Windows page that seems to be the main one 0,o

It's true the support on this site is spotty. For what it's worth, I wasn't able to reproduce your problem (at least to my understanding).

The results from Google look correct to me.

It only happens when I google "forum.anarchyst-it.com", when I use the "site:forum.anarchyst-it.com" it shows the .html pages, the other way seems to have the php pages cached.

Basically im looking to do what the php pages have where it shows the 4 active forums under it, unfortunately it has the ATI forum as the main one lol.

I don't see a problem. Google apparently decided that your sub-domain (forum.*) should be shown under your main domain when it has no keywords. That seems reasonable. When I searched on "anarchyst-it.com forum", Google correctly showed the subdomain (not the top-level domain). For what it's worth, you have limited influence on how non-keyword related pages are shown by Google. The Google Webmaster Tools allows you to disallow site links (those highlighted ones in your search results), but that's about it.

Basically I think you have a non-problem. For what it's worth, I'd get rid of the "View forum" in the viewforum.php result. It adds blather and moves the keyword further down. Something like "Site name - Forum name" is shorter and more likely to get highlighted emphasis (i.e., the longer the title, the more likely keywords on the end won't be shown).

Good idea about the remove view forum ^_^ Ill implement that.

And really its not so much a problem I guess as it is me wondering if the mod itself is actually hurting me when it comes to presentation of the site on google.

But all in all, from what im reading anyways, im doing everything right, and the site has only been up a month and ive got 63/262 pages indexed in it now and it goes up a few each day ^_^.

Any other tips you might have to have my search results look a bit better?

Well I was successful in removing the View Forum part. Now hopefully after re-submitting my sitemap to google (made after the changes) it will clear out all of the indexed View Forum links.

Also I went through and added Dynamic Meta Tags for each thread that will pull the keywords and descrip from the first post.

>_< Now if I could just find a way to add Meta's to each separate forum ill be golden I think.

Well I was able to get everything setup properly, dynamic titles, dynamic descriptions and keywords.

Its looking awesome! Now I just need to wait for google to finish completely indexing and re-indexing my site to correct all of the many changes ive made in the past 3 weeks lol.

Im excited though.

As an example of how my site shows under the results:

AnArchyst-it.com • EBOOK: Violent Python
forum.anarchyst-it.com/viewtopic.php?t=20&p=149‎Cached
Share View shared post
Aug 7, 2013 - Ebook : Violent Python, a cookbook for hackers, forensic analysts, penetration testers, and security engineers. Cheers to @L0rd.B-RY for ...

Although im confused on why it does not show the actual link as the one with the virtual files and folders that I setup in SEO, im not all that concerened due to how it shows up in google.

Thanks for the help!
