There seems to have a number of ways to get traffic and promote a site like article directories, business directories, forums, blogs, classifieds, social networking sites etc. Updating and adding new content frequently will also contribute promoting your site.

As others have said, there are lots of ways to get traffic, but the most important thing is that you create a real value of your site. I mean, create great content, build relationships with other webmasters or website owners in your industry. Send content to them, build your social branding also... You see, it's much better if you create a real business, so you will have real users, real visitor and your site will remain free and strong againts any Google change.

Well this is a big question that all the old link building methods still work? It is really concerning and I have serious doubts in my mind. I would love to know what are new and safe methods to do link building.
