Brilliant :D

I must have misread somewhere that you had to use a phpbb SEO source version of php bb to start with rather than the normal php bb

Matt Cutts said that anything more than 5-6 words in the title can be considered as keyword stuffing and thus spam. Please note the "can", it's not spam right away, but the chances stand higher.

It was a video about it, you can probably find it in his blog... I don't know the exact url right now.

What matters as well is if the title is humanly readable as well.

A ten word sentence cannot be compared to a ten keywords list.

What is for sure is that the beginning of the title matters more than it's end. Including the forum title if they are not too long can help, especially at the beginning of the forum, it may be less interesting when you have a lot of topics and if your topic titles are mostly good.
